National Siblings Day is on Wednesday, April 10, 2020! National Siblings Day is a holiday held every year in the United States on April 10 to recognize and celebrate the special bond that exists between brothers and sisters.
In honor of National Siblings Day, Siblings with a Mission has partnered for a second year with the wonderful organization, Don't Hide It, Flaunt It, to share stories and raise awareness of the special experiences that siblings share together. "The Real Beauty is on the Inside"
By Nicoletta Agostino Nicoletta is 18 years old and her younger sister, Victoria, has an autoimmune disease called alopecia. This National Siblings Day, Nicoletta is celebrating the special bond that she shares with her sister and the life lessons her sister has taught her. As Nicoletta explains, "I have seen Victoria grow from her autoimmune disease, each and every day. Victoria teaches me, the rest of our family and her friends to be confident. "Just Like Any Other Kid"
By Grant McKay Grant is 9 years old and his older brother, Davis, has Down Syndrome. For Grant, National Siblings Day is a way for him to celebrate how his brother Davis has had a positive impact on his life. "A New Normal"
By Daniel George Daniel is 15 years old and his older brother Jacob suffered a severe traumatic brain injury ten years ago. Even though Jacob's life and the lives of the George family are different than before, Daniel and Jacob still share an intense brotherly bond. By Yasmeen Faruqui Yasmeen is 10 years old and her younger sister, Soraya, has an undiagnosed disease. In her story, Yasmeen describes some of the challenges her sister experiences. Despite these challenges, however, Yasmeen and Soraya share a strong bond and they both help each other in incredible ways. Like Yin and Yang, Yasmeen and her sister Soraya may have many differences but as Yasmeen says, "When put together, we are a bond of love." "A Deep Sense of Gratitude"
By Kathryn McNamara In her story, Kathryn shares how grateful she is for the strong and unique bond she shares with her twin brother Brian. Brian has autism and as Kathryn explains, "Having him as my twin means I'm actually blessed with a gift." Despite the challenges that have come with the coronavirus pandemic, Kathryn looks forward to National Siblings Day as a way to celebrate the special bond she shares with her twin brother.
