Down Syndrome Group
The Down Syndrome Group is a subgroup of Siblings with a Mission and provides information about Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic disorder and occurs when an individual inherits an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. Individuals with Down syndrome may experience delays in their speech and processing. There are 3 different types of Down syndrome:
1) Trisomy 21
2) Mosaicism
3) Translocation.
The Down Syndrome Group provides information about the types and symptoms of Down syndrome. In addition to hosting monthly video conferences, the Down Syndrome Group will also provide stories to siblings of individuals affected by Down syndrome.
