Need suggestions for how to honor the life of your sibling or loved one?
Here are some fun and creative ideas:
- Write a note to your sibling on a balloon and release it with your family on occasions such as: their birthday or the anniversary of their death. Fun twist: Attach a card in a Ziploc bag at the end of the string on the balloon. On the card, explain your sibling’s story. My family and I did this at our Dash For Danny walk/run. We got an email two days later from a family who found Danny’s balloon in the Reflection Pool in Washington D.C. How cool!! And it helped spread awareness of MPS (my brother's condition)!!
- On your sibling's birthday, go out to eat at their favorite restaurant. For example, my brother loved the chicken strips at Roosters in Dayton, Ohio. Fun twist: Leave a tip for however old they would be and leave a note on the receipt explaining your reason for the tip.
- Make a scrapbook or a photo album in their memory.
- Make a donation in their memory to a non-profit organization.
- Plant a tree in your backyard in memory of them.
