"Funny Moments with Frank,"
By Mike Wier
Sometimes it’s the little things that can really make you smile. This is especially true when I think back to some of the memories I have with my brother, Frank. Frank was one hilarious guy and gave me, and so many others, many moments of joy that will not be forgotten. Here, I’m going to talk about two of my favorite “little moments."
Moment #1: Spongebob. That’s right, Spongebob. If there was any single entity on earth that Frank loved more than anything, I would say Spongebob took the cake with Hannah Montana as a close second. Frank absolutely loved Spongebob. He especially loved the theme song from Spongebob. Once the show started, the theme song would begin with a resounding “Are ya ready kids?!” “Aye, Aye, Captain!” “I can’t hear you!” “Aye, Aye, Captain!”... When Frank heard these opening words from the theme song, he knew what was about to happen, Spongebob was about to start, and he absolutely lost his marbles. Frank would have the biggest smile on his face that I’ve ever seen anyone able to conjure. His face was the face of pure joy and happiness. Along with the face he would start slapping his hands against his legs while jumping up and down in his chair excitedly along with laughing absolutely hysterically. It was unlike anything you could ever witness. He was so happy for Spongebob; it filled him with so much joy. He made everyone in the room light up when he did this, which was usually me, my family, and our friends. It was inescapable. If you saw this happening you would have to smile and laugh too, there was no way around it. You couldn’t contain yourself being around someone so happy for something, it would make you happy. Today, when I think back to Frank doing this, it still is one of the most beautiful things I can think of. There was such joy and happiness in his heart, despite the hardships he went through; he put smiles on all of our faces. I miss this very much about Frank and I know he is laughing along to Spongebob in heaven.
Moment #2: One thing about my little brother that he was known for was his gargantuan appetite. He is still referred to as Frank the Tank, his eating habits being one of the reasons. Frank loved food. He didn’t just love it, he made a point to search for and eat food as much as possible. You would often see Frank toting a can of his favorite drink, Coca Cola, and munching down on whatever was his feast at the time. One thing that Frank would do, however, was funnier than the rest. Frank would love to stuff his mouth with food to the point where he couldn’t even move his jaw anymore and then move to wherever he wanted to go. For instance, Frank would put upwards of three Oreos in his mouth at a time and then walk back to the living room with his mouth gaped open from Oreos. It was hilarious to watch him do this. He would then attempt to eat all of the food in his mouth which would take him a while. Not only was this done with Oreos, but with other cookies, pizza slices, French fries, you name it. I still think about him doing this today.
These are just a few of the “little moments” I shared with my brother. I hope you enjoyed reading them.
